Training and Collaborating in Virtual Worlds

Virtual Reality World posted a 5 minute YouTube video that discusses the book "Training and Collaboration with Virtual Worlds" by Alex Heiphetz, and Gary Woodill. The book details corporate use of virtual worlds at length. The book has contributors from IBM, Cisco, Intel, the Michelin group, Microsoft, EMC, World Bank, and KUMC. The video notes simply moving to a virtual world is not a guarantee for success in training, recruiting, or collaborating. The best reason to leverage a virtual world is to demonstrate simulations. Many people have criticized SL for having a deep learning curve yet the video notes Michelin found the learning curve in using SL was not as steep as initially thought dispelling this myth. The book is full a great information and I personally view it as a book you want to have on your bookshelf if you are planning to work in virtual worlds or are already immersed in the environment.
